Since it opened in 2003, Jive has been one of the city’s most popular live music venues. Jive has hosted many famous musical acts including The Cat Empire, Missy Higgins, Passenger, Courtney Barnett, The Presets, The Gossip, Eskimo Joe, Xavier Rudd, Josh Pyke, Marlon Williams, Megan Washington, Ball Park Music, and Bob Log III.

Before it was a live music venue, a range of different businesses occupied 181 Hindley Street. These included a theatre, The Baygonue gentlemen’s club, the legendary Toucan nightclub, and even a comedy cub! The building’s original theatre design is ideally suited for live music performances, with fantastic lines of sight from all floors to the stage.
