High-ropes adventure course

The tall trees alongside the South Park Lands creek in the southern section of this Park are being turned into a haven for high-wire thrill-seekers.

The City of Adelaide has approved an eight-year lease – not of the ground – but of the tree tops.

The 16,000 square metre course in the tops of the existing mature trees is to be available for paying customers but the ground below is still to be maintained as open space available to the public.

The Council has been assured that the high ropes adventure course does not damage the trees. It incorporates a range of suspension lines, bridges, flying foxes and climbing obstacles set amongst the existing trees, ground plantings and the South Park Lands Creek. The course is intended to encourage young people to visit the Park Lands to take part in more physical activity.

Most of the large trees here are red gums and blue gums.
